Actor George Clooney is engaged
to a British human rights lawyer who has represented WikiLeaks founder
Julian
Assange and former Ukraine prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, according to
reports.
Amal Alamuddin, 36, a
London-based barrister, was born in Beirut and is fluent in French and Arabic.
She has also worked as an adviser to former United Nations Secretary-General
Kofi Annan, now joint special envoy of the UN and the Arab League on Syria, and
a United Nations inquiry into the use of drones.
Clooney, 52, was married for four
years to actress Talia Balsam until they broke up 1993 when he famously pledged
never to marry again. See more after the cut
However E! news, citing two sources, reported that Ms Alamuddin was seen with a “massive” ring on her finger on Thursday at the Nobu restaurant in Malibu. At one point, actor Edward Norton approached the table and the couple told him they were engaged.
Human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin has managed to do what many (bar Talia Balsam) have tried and failed to do – to tie Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor down. The pair got engaged in 2014 after dating for just nine months.
