Culture links societies together, it is our collective way
of life. It influences our laws and the boundaries we create. Culture, contrary
to what most people think, is dynamic; it changes over time.
Talking about change, one of the things that have really
changed is our perception of infidelity. There was a time infidelity was a
taboo, a shameful thing to hear about or even think about, people felt guilty
for even being in an environment where it was discussed. However, things seem
to be different today. Recently, a scandal broke out when hackers made public
the database of a website which specialises in connecting married people who
want to cheat. It is shocking to know that such a business exists.
What really is cheating? Is it spending time in the chat
room or is it about sex? Why do people cheat? We believe cheating is when you
share an intimate and romantic expression of love with someone who is not your
spouse - emotional or physical.
Are you flirting? Are you staying back late at work to spend
more time with someone? Are you discussing something intimate with something
who is not your spouse? Are you having an emotional affair? Are you keeping
your meetings and conversations with someone secret?
ACTION POINT: Seek help today. Step out of the dark; open
up; put boundaries around your life.
