Surulere Fire Kills Entire Family and Three Months Old Baby

This was heart breaking for me as I saw my hubby run out to try and rescue the now dead victims of home fire. at about 11pm we woke up to see fire burning an apartment on Michael Ogun Street close to Ogunlana Drive in Surulere. We prayed that no one was in the house but to our greatest surprise, voices came out of the house screaming help! help!! fire!!! fire!!! My hubby and many good Samaritans could do was pour in water from outside in attempt to quell the flame but it was too late for the Man and his household.

The fire killed the Man's mother, wife, three weeks old baby(roasted and wrapped in the mother's arms) two of the man's other kids and two little in-laws that came visiting on short holiday.

The gist was that the fire started as a result of candle light. From the look of things, with the position they took as they died, it seem as if the grandmother was trying to escape from the room as she fell at the door of the room with her legs wide open. The man, his wife and other members of the house where all clustered to one corner of the room probably on the bed except for the little in-law my husband and other helpers saw her lying on the bathroom floor gasping for air and partly burnt on the face. they quickly poured water through the window of the bathroom to reduce movement of the fire from getting to the bathroom.

Fire fighters finally came in when the fire had gone down but they helped in bringing the little girl out of the bathroom and quickly took her to the hospital.

At about 8am this morning, the Lagos State ambulance came in and selected five volunteers to help remove the body. My husband was one of the volunteers that helped to remove the bodies from the house. He has not stopped praying till now. What he saw was mind blowing. May their souls rest in peace.

We should constantly pray against such wicked occurrences and pray for God to constantly protect us from the hands of the wicked ones. This is the beginning of the Ember Months we must be careful of how we light our houses at night as i believe Candle is a NO! NO!!
