Shocking Details of How Money Is Shared In Supreme Court

Detailed detectives have uncovered huge cash payments to Supreme Court Justices, members of the management and staff of the apex court.

Some of the payments, which were effected through a Secret/Operation Account, are alleged to be outrageous and outside the allowances approved by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The allowances include cash for justices and management staff during festivities, especially Easter, Christmas, Ramadan and Eid-el Kabir.

Also, detectives are now probing why the apex court paid the huge cash instead of remittance of such payments to the accounts of the beneficiaries.

Abducted Commissioner’s Wives Yet To Be Released, Kidnappers Demand N50m

Abductors of two wives of Nasarawa Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed, on Saturday reportedly demanded N50m ransom before they would be released.

Sunday Punch gathered that the kidnappers had made repeated calls to Ahmed threatening not to release his wives unless the ransom was paid.

“They (kidnappers) demanded that I should give them plenty money, but I told them that I don’t have money to give anybody,” Ahmed told Punch in a telephone interview.

The gunmen had invaded Nasarawa town on Thursday night, abducted the commissioner’s two wives and took them to an undisclosed destination.

Grace Onaiwu Omoigui, the mother of a former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, has been confirmed dead.

The family, in a statement on Saturday, said that the 82-year-old died from multiple gunshot injuries sustained in an armed robbery attack in Benin City on her way from Guaranty Trust Bank, Sapele Road branch.

‎”Mama G, as she loved to be called, fought a gallant fight to live but the Lord decided that her time on this earth was done,” the eldest child of the deceased, Dr. Nowamagbe Omoigui, said in the statement.

“She leaves behind a legacy of love to one’s neighbour regardless of cost and personal sacrifice. Even in the face of unprovoked attack, she did what she does best: rightly question the indefensible actions of the armed robbers as she felt it was wrong.”

DSS Arrest 40 In Kano Bureau De Change Raid

DSS Operative Friday afternoon in Kano raided Bureau de change spots and arrested no fewer than 40 currency dealers.

Total Blackout Coming As GENCOs, DISCOs Battle N400bn Debt

A Total blackout is on the way as power generation as well as distribution companies say over N400bn debts are stifling their operations.

While GENCOs’ debt is put at over N300bn, DISCOs have complained of being owed over N100bn by customers - Nigerians.

With such a huge debt burden, the power firms said they lack funding required for their operations, including the purchase of equipment and spare parts.

The Executive Secretary, Association of Power Generation Companies, Dr. Joy Ogaji, said, “The debt is over N300bn that GENCOs are being owed. If the situation is not checked, there will be blackout. It is so imminent that I don’t know if most of the generation we are having now can go beyond Christmas if the payment problem is not solved. We can’t pay contractors; most of the machines are packing up.”

Trump Agrees To Pay $25m In Trump University Settlement

Donald J. Trump has reversed course and agreed on Friday to pay $25 million to settle a series of lawsuits stemming from his defunct for-profit education venture, Trump University, finally putting to rest fraud allegations by former students, which have dogged him for years and hampered his presidential campaign.

The settlement was announced by the New York attorney general just 10 days before one of the cases, a federal class-action lawsuit in San Diego, was set to be heard by a jury. The deal averts a potentially embarrassing and highly unusual predicament: a president-elect on trial, and possibly even taking the stand in his own defense, while scrambling to build his incoming administration.

It was a remarkable concession from a real estate mogul who derides legal settlements and has mocked fellow businessmen who agree to them.

Nigerian death row convict, Chijoke Stephen Obioha was executed in Singapore early this morning, after the Court of Appeal dismissed an Urgent Criminal Motion filed by his lawyer, Joseph Chen.
