It first started like a silly joke but after four very famous deaths, we are starting to get worried, more like scared.

First it was former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, then world terrorist Osama Bin Laden followed by Apple founder Steve Jobs and most recently ‘Queen of Pop’Whitney Houston. But what do these famous people have in common other than the fact that they are dead?

Well it’s none other than 21-year-old Welsh Arsenal FC footballer Aaron Ramsey. The last time four times Ramsey has scored in the past year, the above mentioned famous people have died.

Trust me when I say her song is good, I am not joking... Vanessa was born in Lagos, Nigeria where she spent most of her childhood. Her music career started very early in life, she started out entertaining family and friends at holiday functions and singing in church. Where ever she found an audience, she performed. She joined the music band of Action health incorporated; a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of Nigerian adolescence.  

Vanessa relocated to Texas in the early 2000`s,  where she performed at local community venues  such as; Richland Community College and the University of Texas at Austin.

Fastest man in Africa, Olusoji Fasuba, joins Royal Navy

Africa's 100m record holder, Olympic bronze medallist, indoor 60m world champion, and one of the fastest men on the planet, Nigerian-born Olusoji Fasuba has just completed nine months of training to become a logistics specialist in the Royal Navy.

28 year old Olusoji retired from professional running and joined the Navy last May to provide a more settled life for his wife and baby daughter. He's married to 400m runner Ngozi Nwokocha, and they have seven-month-old daughter Annabelle.

As a runner, Olusoji set an African record in the 100m of 9.85 seconds, just 0.27 of a second slower than the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt.

Rihanna Celebrates 24 Birthday with Bruno Mars and More

Pop stars Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Chris Martin helped Rihanna celebrate her birthday one week early during a Barbados-themed bash on Monday.


The Umbrella hitmaker doesn't officially turn 24 until next week but she got the party started with more than 100 friends and family members at the Hearst Mansion in Beverly Hills, California.Guests including Coldplay frontman Martin and gal pal Perry feasted on a Caribbean-style dinner - as a tribute to Rihanna's island roots - and indulged in cupcakes decorated with Barbadian flags. 


A brass drum player was also on hand to play reggae tunes and a guest tells People.com, "Rihanna was dancing all night and had an amazing time celebrating with her friends."

Towards the end of the evening, a personalized birthday cake, featuring an image of a bikini-clad Rihanna, was brought out along with more than 20 bottles of champagne for a special toast. Attendees also walked away with high-end Camacho cigars as a parting gift.

‘Brave Mind’, the new movie starring Nollywood favourite Mercy Johnson has premiered online.

The movie had stirred up controversy a few weeks ago when a picture of the actress with a stabbed eye surfaced in tabloids. Her publicists would later reveal that the controversial picture was taken on set while the movie was being shot.

Brave Mind is about three friends who play ‘the game of stealing’ men from each other without considering the consequences.

The movie also stars acts like Chijioke Nnaji, Mary Remmy and Eve Esin and directed by Michael Jaja.

Jay Z And Beyonce Trade Marks Baby's Name

Beyonce and Jay-Z have applied to patent their daughter’s name, ‘Blue Ivy Carter’.

The couple submitted their application with the U.S Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, January 26, 2012. The action was taken in order to protect the name for possible use in marketing a future line of baby product.

According to reports, a fashion designer, Joseph Mbeh allegedly tried to trademark ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 while another applicant filed for ‘Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV’ to sell a line of fragrances on Friday, January 20, 2012. However, their applications were denied on the basis that Blue Ivy belonged to a ‘very famous infant’, and products bearing the name could give the wrong impression to customers that they have been endorsed by the star musicians.

It is believed that the couple’s request will be granted because parents have an authorization to trademark their children’s names when they are minors. Will there be a line of merchandise from the name? Who knows?

The couple had made headlines this week when Bey stepped out for the first time since delivery, as her hubby delivered an enthralling performance at the Carnegie Hall on Monday, February 6, 2012 (see Beyonce looking fabulous on Monday)

Ini Edo Premiere's Movie In Lagos February 24

The anticipated dance movie ‘I’ll Take My Chances‘ from Ini Edo is set to be premiered in Lagos on Friday, February 24, 2012.

After a successful premiere in the City of Uyo, on Saturday, September 24, 2011, the movie is now making its way to the Lagos cinemas.

‘We decided to really take our time to make sure we got it right with this film. We were set to release it initially in December over Christmas but I just wasn’t satisfied with it, post-production wise so decided to postpone it‘ producer of the movie, Emem Isong says.

Egyptian Comedian Adel Imam Sentenced To Jail For Insulting Islam

A popular Egyptian comedian Adel Imam has been sentenced to three months in jail for offending Islam, a judge said.

Imam was found guilty of ‘defaming Islam’ in a 2007 movie ‘Morgan Ahmed Morgan’ in which he plays a corrupt businessman who tries to buy a university diploma. The movie included a scene with bearded Muslim men wearing traditional Islamic robes. Other reports said the court objected to his use of Islamic symbols in the film and others he has appeared in.

Imam, also a veteran actor was convicted in absentia. The judge said Imam can however appeal.

Just last month, an Egyptian telecommunications mogul and founder of the liberal Free Egyptians political party Naguib Sawiris faced similar charges after he posted pictures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse wearing Islamic clothing on Twitter.

Imam, 71, has acted in dozens of films and 10 plays in a career that spans nearly 50 years.

D’banj to Perform at BBC’s Hackney Weekend

2012 is looking quite busy for pop star Dapo ‘D’banj’ Oyebanjo. While his upcoming Live Nation tour is still making tongues wag, the hit-maker is now set to perform at the Hackney Weekend 2012 in London.

The festival which is put together by UK national radio station BBC Radio 1 will take place on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday 24th June at the Hackney Marshes, London.

There will be performances across the Main stage, Dance Arena, 1Xtra stage, In New Music We Trust stage, Outdoor stage and BBC Introducing stage which will showcase a varied mix of UK and international artists.

Movie producer and Stingomania Records boss Ope Banwo is reportedly suing Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic for one Billion Naira (N1,000,000,000) over an alleged infringement of the company’s rights on  the Dagrin biopic ‘Ghetto Dreamz’.

Banwo’s who produced the movie, alleges through his PR rep Bigsam Media that the full length of the movie was played ‘on over 71 international routes of the airline, the video content and soundtracks were also played in their office, they uploaded a trailer and exhibited a poster of the movie on two of their websites including www.virgin-atlantic.com/ng, virginatlantic.mymovies.net; seatback@fly.virgin.com’.
