140 Nigerians Deported From Libya

One hundred and forty Nigerians were yesterday deported from Libya for immigration and sundry offences.

The deportees were  flown in a chartered aircraft that  landed at the cargo section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to immigration sources, 74 of the deportees are adult females, 52 adult males, three infants and six unaccompanied persons .

The immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), may soon be extradited from his new home in Holland as the EFCC has filed charges before a Federal High Court in Abuja for his alleged role in the $1.1bn Malabu oil scam.

The Malabu oil scam, which has been under investigation for over four years, relates to the billions of dollars paid by oil giants, Shell and ENI, into a Federal Government account, for OPL 245, considered the richest oil block in Africa.

The money was allegedly diverted by Adoke and paid into private accounts.

Lagos Commence Sales Of Lake Rice Tomorrow

The Lagos state government yesterday said it will commence the sales of the much awaited Lake Rice tomorrow as the Christmas celebration draws nearer.

The sale, earlier scheduled for December 15 at a cost at N13, 000 per 50 kg has been re-scheduled to commence tomorrow at some specific locations across the state.

A source however said a bag of rice scheduled for N13,000 will now go for N12,000.

Last Friday many were alerted to the gist of a young boy, identified as Aduragbemi, who was found in-between two walls (about 10 inches apart) in the Oduduwa Area, New Town in Ondo State.

When the incident happened, there was a barrage of questions on the minds of people who came across it, as to how he entered such a narrow space, who he was; where he came from; was he a normal human being or a demon; could he also be a witch that fell from the sky, and many of such questions.

So what really and truly happened?
Well, it’s been eight days since he was rescued and normalcy has since returned to the area, but the tortuous experience the boy subjected the occupants of the house to may not go away quickly.

101-Year-Old British Man Jailed For 13 Years For Historical Child S3x Offences

A 101-year-old man has been jailed for 13 years for committing 30 child s3x offences. Ralph Clarke, of Erdington, Birmingham, is thought to be the oldest person convicted in British legal history.
Judge Richard Bond QC said Clarke had been guilty of "systematic abuse" between 1974 and 1983.

He was found guilty of 21 counts of abusing two girls and admitted nine charges relating to a boy during his trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

The court heard the retired haulier abused the girls at his home in of Holly Lane, Erdington, in the cab of his truck and in his garden shed.

How NIMASA Sponsored Judges Handling Its Cases On Juicy Foreign Trips

Embattled high court judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, who is facing a 30-count charge of bribery and money laundry, was treated to lavish foreign trips by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, while presiding over cases the agency was either a party or had interest.

She held so much sway over NIMASA under the leadership of Patrick Akpobolokemi that the agency flouted its own employment policy simply to grant the judge’s daughter, who is an employee of the agency, a curiously extended study leave.
Interestingly, Mr Akpolobokemi, alongside other officials of NIMASA, is currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for laundering N1.2billion.

I Was Not Persuaded To Concede Defeat To Buhari- Jonathan

 Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has dispelled rumours he was pressured to concede defeat after the 2015 Presidential election.

Jonathan spoke at the graduation ceremony of Bingham University in Nasarawa State, where he and ex-head of state, General Yakubu Gowon were awarded honorary doctorate degrees.

Indonesian Air Force Plane Crashes In Papua, Kills All On Board

An Indonesian air force transport plane has crashed into a mountain killing all 13 on board.

The crash happened during a training exercise in the remote region of Papua, a search and rescue agency official said earlier this morning.

The Hercules C130 plane had taken off from the city of Timika before crashing near its destination of Wamena at around 6.15 a.m. local time (23:15 GMT), said Ivan Ahmad Riski Titus, operational director of Indonesia's Search and Rescue Agency.

The crash site on Lisuwa mountain had been found and the bodies of the victims were being brought back to Wamena, he said. May their souls rest in peace.

FG Launches Information App, Lai Mohammed Says It’s A Promise Fulfilled

The Federal Government has launched an information application called, Federal Government of Nigeria Information App (FGN IAPP).

While unveiling the app yesterday in Abuja, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the introduction of the App was in line with his promise on assumption of office “to leverage the unique power of Information and Culture to drive the Change Agenda of this administration, with the view to ensuring that Nigerians take ownership of the agenda to bring about a paradigm shift in the way we do things.”

The launch, he said, was also in line with the mandate of his ministry “to lead in the management of the image and reputation of the people and policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

Anambra To Spend N25m For De-Worming Of Children

The Anambra State government is to spend N25 million in the de-worming exercise of children between one and fifteen years.

The week-long exercise would take place in all the 21 local government areas of the state. The implementing partners, including the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, and the state Ministry of Economic Planning, had already conducted the needs assessment survey of poverty distribution and access to social services in the 21 local government areas during which they identified the six most underserved LGAs in Anambra State, where the exercise would begin.

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has released the mandate to Central Bank of Nigeria for payment of naira equivalent of US$1,173,820.00 at N305/$  to Nigeria Football Federation in other to be able to pay outstanding winning bonuses for Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying Matches and for the Super Falcons’ participation in the 10th Women’s Africa nations Cup.

This is in furtherance of the approval from Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, for the said amount to be paid.

Nigerian Muslims Reject Christian Court

  The Bill for Ecclesiastical (Christian) Courts in Nigeria is a recipe for anarchy and should be stopped in the interest of the nation, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has warned.

The organisation also threatened that it would demand that Wednesday should be declared a work-free day in Nigeria, if Christians continue to insist on ecclesiastical courts.

The Secretary-General of NSCIA who is also the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, sounded the warning in an interview with Punch in Abuja over the weekend.

He said no wise Christian would agitate for Christian courts because Muslims had Shariah courts.

N565bn Recovered Loots To Finance 2017 Budget

A total of N565billion stolen funds have been recovered by the government and included in the 2017 budget. This was revealed in a revised MTEF submitted to the National Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present a proposed budget of N7.28 trillion for 2017 at a joint session of the National Assembly, which is an increase of ‎19.95%  over 2016 budget.

The MTEF showed that the amount included $320million equivalent to N97.6 billion General Sani Abacha loot.

Gambian President Allegedly Tells African Leaders ‘I Wont Step Down’

This is according to Gambia's freedomnewspaper.com a Gambia online news medium. It reports it thus;

Gambia’s longtime dictator Yahya Jammeh, has defied West African regional leaders, following calls for his stepping down from the Presidency, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The dictator told a delegation of African leaders assigned to mediate and convince Jammeh to allow a peaceful transition of  power to President elect Barrow, that he is determined to challenge the results of the December, 1st election in court. Hence, Jammeh said he is not going to entertain any talks for his withdrawal from the Presidency. The Banjul talks was a complete failure. No deal, or breakthrough was reached by the visiting African leaders.

GTBank Drags Federal Lawmaker Who Collected N130m Loan

The lawmaker, Hon. Samaila Suleiman has been accused of bridging his contract with the bank. In a letter to the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, GTBank described the lawmaker as a dubious character who took a loan from the bank to offset another loan with United Bank of Africa (UBA).

After collecting the loan from GTB, the lawmaker promised to repay it from his monthly allowances which would be domiciled with the bank.

EFCC Ordered To Unfreeze Fayose's Accounts

The Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered the unfreezing of the accounts of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, domiciled in Zenith Bank.

The presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruled that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did not follow the laid down processes in freezing the accounts.

India, US, Spain Purchased N1.9trn Crude Oil From Nigeria

India, United States of America and Spain led other countries in patronage of Nigeria’s crude oil, spending a total of  N1.9 trillion in the first nine-monthsof this year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

NBS, in its Foreign Trade Statistics for the first, second and third quarters of 2016, also revealed that 12 other countries emerged top destinations for Nigeria’s crude oil grades, as they spent N3.245 trillion on the purchase of Nigeria’s crude oil in the period under review.

The other countries, according to the NBS reports are Netherlands, France, South Africa, Brazil, China, Italy and Japan. The rest are Canada, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Germany and the Ivory Coast.

According to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), former IICC Shooting Stars and Red Devils (now Super Eagles) striker, Dejo Fayemi is dead. He died on Friday morning at his residence situated at Odo-Ona Elewe, Ibadan, at the age of 83.

Protesting players of the Nigerian senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons may have soft-pedalled on their decision to openly confront the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the federal government over the non payment of bonuses and other allowances running into millions of naira after winning an unprecedented eight African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon a fortnight ago.

The African champions refused to vacate their hotel in Abuja, insisting they will remain there until they were paid their money. A visit to the hotel yesterday by Sports Vanguard showed that the girls who were hitherto eager to talk to the media concerning their plight were no where to be found as they stayed back in the rooms with a directive to the front desk staff that they do not want to talk to anybody.

200 Die In Akwa Ibom Church Collapse,Governor & Pastor Escapes Death(Graphic Photos)

 The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, narrowly escaped death on Saturday as the building of Reigners’ Bible Church Int’l Inc, along Uyo Village Road, Uyo, the state capital, collapsed during service.

The incident left about 200 worshippers dead. Sources said it took the efforts of the governor’s security officers to whisk him away to safety. He was said to have sustained a minor injury.

The governor was in the church attending the ordination of the church’s Presiding Pastor, Bishop Elect Akan Weeks, when the building gave way few minutes before offering period.
One of the aides, who rescued the governor, was said to have died at a nearby hospital where he was rushed to.

Why My Marriage Failed-Chika Ike

Actress Chika Ike has opened up on her failed marriage . In an interview with The Nation, when asked if getting married at a young age had anything to do with the way it ended three years ago, she said
