Portugal and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has won the
prestigious Ballon d'Or award as the best player in Europe for a fourth
time, to cap an impressive 2016 for his club and country.
The Portuguese forward beat out the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, rival Lionel Messi, to take home France Football magazine’s coveted award.
Ronaldo, who is one short of Messi’s record of 5 Ballon d’Or, was the overwhelming favourite after a stellar 12 months in which he won Euro 2016, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
