Senator Nelson Effiong (Akwa-Ibom South) defected from the Peoples
Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress in the senate. The
matter generated controversy as Godswill Akpabio, who's the senate
minority leader and also a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, kicked
against the action. He said they would challenge it in court.
