Ebola: Senegal Confirms First Case
Senegal
confirmed its first case of Ebola on Friday, as the country’s health minister
announced that a young Guinean had tested positive for the deadly virus.
Guinean health services had reported on Wednesday “the disappearance of a
person infected with Ebola who reportedly travelled to Senegal”,
Senegalese health minister Awa Marie Coll-Seck said.

Australian hostage negotiator,Dr. Stephen Davis,has given a
deeper insight into the Boko Haram group. Dr Davis, who has a PhD in political geography, has worked as an adviser to
the past two presidents of Nigeria.

Ebola: Update On Latetest Case In Port-Harcourt
Rivers State government has confirmed the death of a medical doctor from
Ebola virus.
Commissioner of Health, Dr Sampson Parker who broke the news Thursday in Port Harcourt said the
late Dr Iyke Sam Enemuo died Friday last week from suspected Ebola virus,
adding that a test on his corpse released yesterday confirmed that the deceased
died from the virus.
He said the late Enemuo met a staff of Economic Community of West African
states, Ecowas at a hotel in Port
Harcourt, noting that the ECOWAS staff was on the team
of those that received the index case, late Patrick. According to the
Commissioner of Health, one week after the ECOWAS staff left Port Harcourt the late Dr Enemuo took ill and
was admitted in a hospital.

Nigeria Confirms Ebola Death In Port-Harcourt
According to Sahara Reports A doctor, who secretly treated a diplomat who had contact with
the index case, Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer, has died of Ebola in Nigeria.
The doctor, who has yet to be named, died on Friday. His wife has also taken
ill and has been quarantined in Port
Harcourt. Interestingly, the diplomat the doctor
treated is still alive.
The diplomat, who was part of the team who met with Patrick Sawyer in Lagos, flew to Port Harcourt,
Rivers State for treatment, evading Nigerian
federal government surveillance for the disease. The late doctor then took him
to a hotel for treatment.

Mysterious Death: Husband,Junior Wife And Their 3 Kids Die

State Police command are yet to unravel the circumstances surrounding the
mysterious death of one Aliu Adeoye, his junior wife and her three children in
their home in Abeokuta, the state capital, about two weeks ago.

Unafraid Dennis turned himself in for observation after falling
ill 14 days after his fiancée Justina died Dennis had high
temperature, and instead of panicking, he boldly turned himself in to
the treatment center for observation. An initial test led the center to
quarantine him, and a
second test came positive leading the center to admit him to treatment. A third
test was however carried out by international affiliates of the center and the
tests came out negative, was certified free of the
virus, he was discharged from the Isolation center August 23rd
after tests carried out on him showed he didn't have Ebola.

Kantabai Thakre an Indian woman is believed to have had the world’s longest ectopic
pregnancy as she became pregnant in 1978 at the age of 24 and whose baby’s
remains were removed from her body 36 years later. When the expectant mother
heard that a foetus was growing outside of her womb and the operation
needed she fled and sought treatment at a small clinic.
Months later when the pain subsided, Ms Thakre was convinced the problem had
been treated. But when she turned 60 years, the woman started to experience

Ebola:Bodies Of Victims Cremated In Lagos
Bodies of the four Nigerians, who died of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, have
been cremated in line with World Health Organisation, WHO, requirements for
disposal of such corpses. The body of the index (first) case, Patrick Sawyer
was the first to be cremated on July 25, 2014.
The decision to cremate the bodies, it was gathered, may not be unconnected
with the deadly nature of the Ebola Virus which is known to be easily
transmissible from human to human during handling of corpses of victims.
A health official at the Emergency Operation Centre, EOC, of the Mainland Hospital,
Lagos, who
confirmed the development, said the Lagos State Government in following strict
guidelines for disposal of the bodies, authorised cremation of all the bodies.
US Government Donates Ebola Screening Equipment To Lagos Airport

got additional Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) screen equipment from the United
States Government to boost screening capacity at the airport. The equipment is
worth 5,000 US Dollars.
Making the donation at the Conference Room of the airport, the US
Consul-General in Nigeria,
Joff Hawkins expressed satisfaction with the timely response of the Nigerian
Government to the contagious disease since its importation into the country by

South Africa Issues Travel Ban For Ebola-Hit Countries
South
Africa’s cabinet on Thursday issued a travel ban for non-citizens
arriving from Ebola-hit West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone
and Guinea.
South Africa’s Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi
said South Africans coming from Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone or
Nigeria would be questioned and medically examined, if necessary.

Africa’s health ministry said its country’s citizens would be asked to
postpone trips to those countries indefinitely and only allowed to
travel if it is absolutely essential.
Ebola: FG Confirms Two New Cases
The Federal Government has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease in
the country, bringing to four the number of patients under isolation.
Confirming the fresh cases on Friday, the Minister of Health, Prof.
Onyebuchi Chukwu, said they were among secondary contact to the
Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer who imported the virus into the country.
Lagos State government had
during the week announced the fresh cases which the Federal Government
denied.
With this development, the number of people afflicted by the virus
has increased to 14, with five deaths recorded and five other patients
discharged after recovering from the disease.
