Though Sami Stoner is legally
blind, Sami a 4.0 GPA student, was given a special waiver by the High School so she
could run with Chloe. Though Sami can’t see where she’s going due to a rare
problem called Stargardt disease, Chloe can see the track, the obstacles, and
the other people running and guides her two-legged friend safe to the finish
line.
She loves to feel the ground pounding by under her feet and the wind
blowing in her hair during a footrace – and with the help of faithful guide dog
Chloe, she does this very often! The upbeat pair can be seen dashing along in
the midst of the Lexington
High School cross country
team competitions. Sami and Chloe run just to run, not to win, but every race
is a victory for the human spirit and the power of hope and friendship!
The inspirational pair is known for giving hope to other kids with disabilities to overcome them and have fun doing what they want to do. Sami’s personal best right now is 29:53, but with her own determination and energy, and Chloe’s loyal help, she’s sure to beat that time any day now!
Let’s all give the world’s two most touching athletes a big hand!
