The newly sworn-in Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has
suspended all permanent secretaries, directors of finance and directors of
accounts in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state. The
governor made the announcement today.
According to Premium Times, sources in the state said the
governor’s decision was aimed at “removing dead woods” considered as stumbling
block to ensuring accountability and prudent management of public resources.
A few days after his inauguration, Mr. Bello ordered the
immediate reinstatement of all local government chairmen sacked in the twilight
of the administration of immediate-past governor, Idris Wada, something a lot
of people have applauded.
