An army general and his wife have been killed in an attack in Burundi's
capital, Bujumbura, as they were dropping off their daughter at school, a
security source has told AFP news agency.
The defence ministry confirmed the killing of General Athanase Kararuza and his wife and daughter who later succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
The general is the latest string of army officers to be killed in Bujumbura since President Pierre Nkurunziza survived a coup attempt and mass protests over his decision last April to extend his decade-long rule. May their souls rest in peace.
