Jamie Vardy Snubs Arsenal, Signs 4-Year Contract Extension With Leicester City

England striker and Arsenal target Jamie Vardy has agreed a new deal with Premier League champions Leicester. The Foxes said the 29-year-old, whose goals helped the club claim a shock title success last season, will sign an extended four-year contract.

"Both parties hope this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie's future," a club statement said.

Vardy was the subject of a reported £20m bid from Premier League rivals Arsenal before the start of Euro 2016.

Saraki, Ekweremadu To Be Arraigned On June 27

‎Senate President Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy, will be arraigned before an Abuja high court on June 27 for alleged forgery, we can confirm. Yusuf Haliru, justice of the high court, on Tuesday, ordered that they be served through substituted means due to their evading tricks.

FG, Niger Delta Militants Agree To 30-Day Ceasefire

The federal government and militant groups in the Niger Delta, including the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on oil and gas installations in recent months, have agreed to a 30-day truce to give President Muhammadu Buhari time to come up with a comprehensive plan for the oil-rich region, investigations by THISDAY have revealed.

The “30 days of quiet” was said to have been agreed upon last week by a federal government team led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and representatives of the militant groups, community leaders and the state governments.

An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 33-year-old man, Imole Emmanuel, in prison custody for allegedly pouring hot soup on a police corporal, Kayode Akingbade.

 Emmanuel was arraigned on counts of assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

 It was learnt that he also attempted to snatch the corporal’s rifle.

A team of policemen was said to be on surveillance around the Baptist College, Ilawe Road, when one of them asked the suspect to leave the area in order for them to carry out their operation.

What My Dad Told Me Before His Death – Amodu Shaibu’s Son

Tragedy struck at the home of ex-Super Eagles coach and Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, Amodu Shuaibu as he passed on in his sleep in Benin City, Edo State.

His death came just days after another ex-national team coach and close friend of Amodu, Stephen Keshi, died in the same city. Amodu’s corpse was buried on Saturday in his hometown Okpella in Etsako East based on Muslim rites.

His eldest son, Abdul-Aziz has revealed that Amodu gave a hint of his death while they were talking.

Abdul-Aziz, a 26-year-old graduate from Igbinedion University, said, “I am getting set for the National Youth Service Corps programme this month. So, I called him (Amodu) yesterday (Friday) to discuss with him but he didn’t pick my call. He called back and told me that he was very busy. He promised to come to Okpella today (Saturday), so that we could see.

A man has set off a homemade explosive device at Shanghai international airport, injuring four people as well as himself, Chinese officials say.

“I was at Ikeja shopping mall on duty where I recovered a missing purse at the parking lot...

The purse contained; some cash both local and foreign currencies, recharge cards worth about N2,000, nine ATM cards, complementary cards, valuable documents, international passport, international and local drivers license, national ID card, voters card and a gold necklace.

I took the missing purse to the security office where all lost but found items are being kept for the owners to claim should in case the owners lodge a formal complaint that their items at the mall went missing for possibly claim after identification. At the security office where we went through all the items inside the purse for record purpose, one of the security men told me point blank that if he’s the one that recovered the missing purse, he’d remove the money, gold necklace and recharge card before bringing the purse to the office for record purpose.
