Below is a statement from  Abraham Adedeji, Olori Wuraola’s Press Secretary on her alleged marriage crisis.

It has come to the attention of our office – the slanderous rumors and sensationalist distortions about Her Majesty, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi through unnamed and unseen sources. The sources are also citing deplorable claims involving Her Majesty Wuraola and that of prominent businessmen in Nigeria, all of whom are good friends of the King and Queen & financial contributors to projects that have advanced our good work in the communities of Ife and Nigeria as a whole.

We are deeply disturbed by these rumors and there is absolutely no truth to these absurd claims of infidelity and we vehemently deny them.

Landslide Kills 40 In Northeast DR Congo

A landslide has swept over a fishing village on the banks of a lake in the northeast Democratic Republic of Congo, killing 40 people, a regional official said Thursday.

Part of a mountain engulfed "a fisherman's camp after heavy rains caused a landslide" the deputy governor of Ituri province, Pacifique Keta, told AFP.

He said 40 people were killed in the disaster in the village of Tora on the banks of Lake Albert, yesterday.

Founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has called on the Nigerian government to bring ailing President Muhammadu Buhari to him as he will heal him of his ailment.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has registered an additional party, the African People’s Party, APP, bringing the number of registered parties in the country to 46.

ASUU Begins Nationwide Indefinite Strike

Rising from a National Executive Council, NEC meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, held in University of Abuja at the weekend, ASUU National President Comrade Biodun Ogunyemi has declared a nationwide strike to commence today.

According to Ogunyemi in a document titled, “Strike Bulletin No.1”, the strike is to be a total, comprehensive and indefinite action whereby no form of academic activities, including teaching, attendance of any meeting, conduct and supervision of any examination at any level, supervision of project or thesis at any level should take place at any of the nation’s universities.

Suspects Arrested Over Anambra Church Killings

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Garba Umar, has said that some suspects have been arrested in connection with Sunday’s killings at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, in the state.

Mr. Umar told journalists yesterday that the number of arrest would not be disclosed so as not to jeopardise ongoing investigation into the massacre of 11 persons by unknown gunmen.

Apart from the dead, 18 others were hospitalised for gunshot injuries.

Godzilla Actor Haruo Nakajima Is Dead

Godzilla will never be the same again. Haruo Nakajima, the man who brought the Japanese monster to life, has died.

Nakajima wore the Godzilla bodysuit -- which was originally made out of cement for nearly 20 years of movies, starting in 1954. He also played Mothra and King Kong in the 60s.

He started his career in samurai and World War II films before scoring the fire-breathing role in "Godzilla, King of the Monsters." Nakajima was 88. May his soul rest in peace.

Danbaba, Ex-Lagos Commissioner Of Police Dies

James Danbaba, a former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, has died.

A member of his family, Clement Dah, has confirmed the news. Dah says he died on Sunday at the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos, after a brief illness.

The Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole, also confirmed Mr. Danbaba’s death, saying that “the command has lost a gallant police officer to the cold hands of death.’’

15-Year Old To Have Hand Amputated Due To Science Lab Accident

A 15-year-old secondary student Safiya Abbas, is set to have her hand amputated. Safiya, had not so long ago sustained serious injuries at her school following an accident at the Science lab. A chemical poured on her hand during a practical class at Science Secondary School Miga, Taraba state,which damaged a entire finger.

Reports have it that the school management tried to manage the situation for two days, but had to contact her parents when things were only getting worse. She was later taken to the state hospital, where doctors said the only remedy is to have her hand amputated.

One Injured As Police Tear Gas ‘Return Or Resign’ Protesters

One person was injured today in Abuja when policemen fired tear gas canisters at protesters demanding the return of President Muhammadu Buhari who had been on medical leave in London, United Kingdom since May 2017.

The wounded citizen was taken to a clinic at the Federal Secretariat complex, a few kilometres from the scene of the incident.

Aluu 4: Court Finds Three Persons Guilty

A High Court sitting in Rivers today has found three persons guilty of the murder of four students who were lynched in Aluu community in 2012.

The court presided over by Justice Nyordee also discharged and acquitted four others, who were standing trial for the 2012 murder.

According to the Judge, the prosecution failed to prove its case of murder against the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th accused persons beyond every reasonable doubt.

He, however, found the 1st to 3rd defendants guilty of murder, Punch reports.

Britain's Prince Philip To Retire This Week

Prince Philip, the 96-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II, will retire this week, conducting the last of more than 22,200 solo public engagements, the palace said today.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who served as a naval officer during World War II, will attend a parade of Royal Marines at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday. He is captain general of the commando force.

"This concludes the duke's individual programme of public engagements. But he may choose to attend engagements alongside the queen from time to time," a spokeswoman said.

Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms His Girlfriend Is Pregnant With His 4th Child

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has finally confirmed his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez is pregnant after months of rumours. He confirmed the news to newspaper El Mundo. He was asked if he was “happy” to have another child on the way, he replied: “Yes, very much.”

Dad-of-three Ronaldo, 32, also said his newborn babies are “precious” and that he has a lot to learn when it comes to changing their nappies.

"I do not get on very well, but I try," he laughed when questioned about his diaper-changing skills.

Abducted Lagos Pupils Are Fine, Says CP

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has said the six abducted pupils of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, are fine.

Owoseni, who spoke at a press briefing yesterday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, added that the police were committed to reuniting the children with their parents.

The pupils – Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf – had spent 55 days (as of Tuesday) in captivity. Owoseni commended the parents for their patience on the incident.

Owoseni said, “I want to tell you that the children are fine. We will continue to intensify efforts with a view to ensuring that the children are reunited with their parents.

Davido's Dad Secures Release Of 200 Inmates, Donate Mattresses, Pillows

The Chairman, Springtime Development Foundation, Dr. Deji Adeleke, has secured the release of about 200 inmates of the Ilesa Prison in Osun State.

The Vice-Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Banji Adesuyi, said this at the Ilesa Prison on Tuesday when the group was donating 700 mattresses and the same number of pillows to the inmates.

Adesuyi said Adeleke became aware that inmates of the prison were sleeping on the bare floor when he went to pay a visit to an embattled chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Diekola Oyedele, who was detained at the prison.

He explained that the foundation paid for the release of inmates, who were incarcerated because they could not pay fines as low as N5,000, stressing that the foundation did not secure the release of any inmate convicted because of crime.


Adesuyi said Adeleke was not prompted  to secure the release of the inmates because of political reason but purely on humanitarian ground.

Chaos In Apapa As Police Officer Attached To Diamond Bank Allegedly Kills 3 Truck Drivers

According to multiple sources, there is chaos in Apapa, as a policeman attached to Diamond Bank on Burma Road, Apapa is accused of  shooting three trailer drivers dead.

Their angry colleagues however gathered in front of the bank to demand the release of the officer, but the Bank authorities allegedly refuse and the Bank was set on fire. According to Twitter users, security agents are now at the scene and are trying to scare the crowd away.
