President of the Nigeria Aircraft and Pilot Engineers, Comrade Isaac Balami narrowly escaped death weekend when his BMW X6 V8 5.0 Ltrs got exploded in Apo, Abuja one hour before he was to be picked up by his driver.

According to DAILY POST ,Balami had asked his driver to take the vehicle to a car-wash along Apo in Abuja when it exploded. However, no mechanical fault has been traced to the explosion. It has, however been alleged that an explosive was hidden in the vehicle before it was driven to the car wash. It remains unclear who planted the explosive and for whatever reason.‘

School Proprietor Jailed For 10 Years For Defiling Girl

An Ado-Ekiti High Court yesterday sentenced a school proprietor, Ibitoye Babatunde to 10 years imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old girl.

NAN reports that the convict is the proprietor of God is Great Nursery and Primary school, Ado-Ekiti.

In his judgment, Justice Mosun Abodunde said that the prosecution had established case of rape beyond reasonable doubt. She described the convict as a pathological liar, randy, shameless adult who is a danger to girl-child around him, including his own female children.

“The court must rise up to give the needed defence to the voiceless children,” she added.

Abducted Colonel Found Dead In Kaduna

Colonel Samaila Inusa, who was kidnapped on Sunday in Kaduna has been found dead. According to a statement by the Nigerian Army this evening, he had just been found dead around Ajyaita Village, off Eastern Bypass, in Kaduna, adding that he was probably killed by his abductors on the day he was snatched because his body was already decomposing.

Col. Inusa’s body will be moved to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in the city, the statement disclosed.

“We wish to state in unmistakeable terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law,” the Army vowed.

Fuel Scarcity Would End In April And Not May-Kachikwu

After the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, told journalists last week Wednesday at the presidential villa, that he had no “magic wand” to make fuel available overnight and said the scarcity may persist for two more months as oil produced in the refineries would not be sold but kept in a “strategic reserve”. 

 

The minister also went on saying, “one of the training I did not receive is that of a magician, but I am working very hard to ensure some of these issues go away,” he also apologized to Nigerians today according to the News Agency of Nigeria at a meeting with the Senate Committee on Petroleum.

He also assured that fuel queues will disappear across the nation by April and not May.

Buhari's Government Must Publish The Spending Of Recovered Loot Says Court

The Federal High Court, Lagos has insisted on enforcement of the judgment ordering the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to publish widely the spending of recovered stolen funds since the return of democracy in 1999.

The details of the judgment are contained in the certified true copy sent by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP to Abubakar Malami (SAN), Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

The 69-page judgment, dated March 24, 2016 and signed by Justice Mohammed Idris, reads in part: “Transparency in the decision making process and access to information upon which decisions have been made can enhance accountability.”

A 60-year-old former US Marine is set to die by lethal injection tomorrow for gunning down his two young daughters as their mum listened on the phone.

John Battaglia sprayed Faith, nine, and Liberty, six, with bullets from his 45 caliber pistol in his home's loft in the town of Livingston, Texas, on May 2, 2001.

He had picked them up for a regular custody visit on the day he learned there was a warrant out for his arrest for violating probation, which he was serving after being convicted of assaulting his ex-wife.

Court Grants Alleged Husband Killer, Yewande To Appear In Court With A Veil

Alleged husband killer, Yewande Oyediran who is alleged to have killed her France based husband in Ibadan, Oyo State has been granted the privilege of wearing a veil to court during her trial to protect her identity. 

Though the deceased lawyer kicked against the idea saying it won’t make the court know if she was the real culprit, but the court agreed to let the accused person appear wearing a veil, saying it would give the suspect the freedom to show her face to only lawyers and the trial judge. She wore it at the last hearing.

Ibinabo Removed As AGN Presidency

After eight months of contest over the rightful leader of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, the National Secretary of the AGN, Femi Durojaiye has announced that actor Emeka Ike will now be the new President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, following a court ruling that stripped actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima of her position, he claimed.

6 Die, Many Injured In Early Morning On Lokoja-Abuja Road

Six people have perished in a ghastly auto crash which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on the Lokoja-Abuja road. Ten other people were seriously injured in the accident, which occurred at about 4:a.m., at a bend at Ohono village located on the ever-busy road.
