Vaughn (Von) Apochi - The Nollywood prolific starts a foundation

Most talked about name in Nigeria's biggest reality tv show Gulder Ultimate Search 2 in 2005 and "star-fame" from the Mnet Gladiator in 2002. Having gained huge accolades across Africa, he decides to create a foundation. Av Army Foundation.

As the name sounds, Av Army, it will close up on your mind as a military coy, but, it is a foundation that curbs youth restiveness and violence. Vaughn prefers to utilise his fame, love and energy for a very positive course.

Vaughn explains, " the effect of cultism, militancy street gangsterism and more are overwhelming, we believe in Av Army Foundation that the power in education, sports and entertainment has not been totally harnessed in Africa yet enough". We should channel our endowed energy into positive implementations.

In 2008/2009 he proposed a strategic plan to the Delta State government to host a project (a youth empowerment event), this project was designed to gathered thousands of youth in the State to kick off the foundation. But the State slowed down the possible responses to empower their own youth with knowledge. They saw the importance of the project but some how they did not know how to approach the process (bureaucracy).

The president, Vaughn Apochi, being a determined person carried out the project self sponsored. It was a success, however, it would have been bigger and better if the State Government had partnered with the foundation.

At the moment, the Foundation is planning a bigger and better project, "a Nigerian national tour on youth empowerment". The objective is propagating a simple message, "violence will not solve a problem". Av Army Foundation is strategically planning for the project. All national stakeholders should be involved in this laudable idea.

Av Army Foundation is willing to affiliate or partner with any other organization individual or Government to foster it's goals and objective, the president says. The foundation is located in Lagos and can be contacted via avarmyent@yahoo.com
