Everyone was pleasantly surprised, delighted, even, to see US singer Beyonce reveal her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 29, 2011. Married to US rapper Jay Z in 2008, Beyonce made a drama out of the self-made announcement that the couple are expecting their first child in a few months.
But now, another drama: some are insinuating that the child Beyonce is carrying might not be Jay Z’s first child afterall. Recent media reports suggest the bestselling rapper may have fathered a nine-year-old boy with a lady named Shanelle Scott. Celebrity tabloid Star Magazine reported in its latest edition that Jay Z is believed to have met with the Trinidad model back 2001.
A certain Jerry Andrews told Star Magazine that the child is actually Jay’s. The man says his son Malik Sayeed was a one time lover to Shanelle Scott and that his son had thought he (Sayeed) was the father to the nine-year-old child. However, trouble arose when the said child failed to show any resemblance to his ‘father’, Sayeed. A DNA test was carried out and finally proved Sayeed wasn’t the father.
‘It’s been determined that the child is Jay-Z’s baby. Maybe two weeks later, Malik called me and said, ‘Daddy, I got some bad news. He’s not my son’’, Andrews told Star magazine.
According to London’s Metro newspaper, Jay Z is believed to have been paying child support.
‘Shenelle told me that Jay-Z gave her $1million to keep her mouth shut’, Andrews added. ‘Shenelle took the money and bought herself a really nice house in Trinidad the whole family lives in now’, Andrews continued.
Jay Z has kept quiet in the midst of the controversy. It is believed that 30-year-old Beyonce is also aware of the situation but has kept mute.
