Let us face a painful truth. Boko Haram
dominates the whole Borno rural area. The only place that Nigeria
effectively commands is Maidugiri and the road between Damaturu and
Maiduguri and that is from 10am to 4pm when the army comes out – and
that is at the will of Boko Haram because they can attack and knock out
any checkpoint.
Now Boko claim to be Muslims, even though
most Real Muslims I know have denied them. But you can see easily what
there game plan is. They are imitating the battles of Prophet Mohammed
(PBUH) who when he was sacked from Mecca went to Medina and engaged in
running battles with Mecca forces whilst they built up their army and
returned in triumph to capture Mecca. This was followed by the Arabic
empire. It is exactly what Othman Dan Fodio did as well. He fled from
Gobir to Gudu then returned in triumph to capture Gobir and it was
followed by the Fulani empire. It also happened with the Mahdi in Sudan
so it is a well established pattern in Muslim traditions by those whom
all Muslims believe were divinely inspired.
It does not take much imagination to guess
what Shekau is trying to do. He is trying to follow the pattern of those
inspired by Allah as he believes he too is hearing voices from Allah.
He has been driven from Maiduguri in ignominy. He has now engaged
Nigerian forces. He captured the girls of Chibok as hostages to prevent
the Nigerian forces from attacking him and launched a brilliant
international publicity campaign to make the Chibok girls central to his
protection and promotion. His classic video of abducted girls-sex
slaves-slave trade was guaranteed to get the feminist movement and
America moving. It succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They got a
BBOG hashtag running with CNN and BBC blaring their success to the
Islamist Terrorist world-wide giving them a profile next only to Al
Queda and ISIS. It means more funds from international terror donors and
recruitment of foreign and local fighters.
As they build their army we wait for fear of
harming Chibok girls. They have attacked and captured an army post in
Damboa near Chibok. All the citizens have fled as far as Goniri in Yobe –
all burnt out Ghost towns.
Yet some think Chibok Girls are the most important. Hmm.
So what is their game plan? They are bombing
out the bridges from the South where reinforcement can come from the Biu
road. They have blown up bridges surrounding Maiduguri. They have
sacked Giwa barracks and gone of with the mortar pounder with over 200
rounds and armoured vehicles. They have destroyed the Airforce base in
Maiduguri, so there is no more aircover that made our military superior
for a while.
Yet some think Chibok Girls are the most important. Hmm
As they surround Maiduguri, their game plan
is obvious. In the tradition of the Prophet, and the Shehu, the
triumphal return to Maiduguri and total capture of Borno!! … When they
attack they will probably start with the motar pounder they captured
from Giwa barracks. .. and when that happens, which will happen if we
continue waiting for the Chibok Girls, we will have a full scale ISIS on
our hands.
Yet some think Chibok Girls are the most important. Hmm
Whilst we wait for Chibok girls and Boko
Haram pretends to negotiate and the bleeding hearts tug at our hearts,
making us think that they care most in the world, the opportunity that
the Army has to throw in everything and destroy them wastes away.
Mecca also underrated the Prophet Mohammed
(PBUH) by divine intervention as Muslims believe. At least the Prophet
(Pbuh) was inspired and had a historical destiny. However, these Boko
wannabees, like AQIM in Mali, are creating fantasy but dangerous
parrallels that are probably playing out in the minds of weaker minded,
illiterate muslims. They are increasingly seeing Shekau as a true
‘Mujaheddin’ of legendary status like Shehu or even the Mahdi – and
Abuja continues to play with kid gloves. I say this so people can at
least imaginge the Boko psychology.
Yet some think Chibok Girls are the most important. Hmm
This is my irritation with the focus on
Chibok girls. I would really wish I was totally wrong and BBOG is right
and all the girls will return, but right now I dont believe the army can
recover those girls. The army needs a full frontal assault with the
full power of the Nigerian army to clear out Boko Haram. Any hostages
caught in the cross fire will just have to be collateral damage.
Without immediate, pre-emptive action, we
will, in time, have a full blown ISIS on our hands and will need
America, Britain or France with helicopter gunships to save us.
And yet some still think Chibok Girls are the most important. Hmm
Am I being evil by seeming not to care for
Chibok girls? No I dont think so. Actually I care deeply that is why I
am being kind by telling the truth so we can focus on our real problem
and stop playing sentimental games of who cares or dont care for Chibok
Girls.
At the meeting of the Chibok Girls with the
President, the President told the lie he was avoiding to tell. He told
them everything will be OK. We are at an advanced stage of negotiations
bla,, bla ,.. bla but they from Chibok probably know the truth – that
the army is no where near Sambisa. With reassurance and a little
emotional placebo, Nigerians did what they love most – tucking their
ostrich heads in the sand. They would rather hear a lie that makes them
laugh than hear a truth that makes them cry.
