Former Akwa Ibom state governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio survived a car crash in Abuja this morning after his car crashed into other vehicles along Bolingo Junction close to Ship House in Abuja. sources said His convoy was trying to overtake other cars due to traffic at bolingo junc..

Akpabio sustained injuries on his chest and was rushed to the Trauma ward in the National Hospital Abuja where he is receiving treatment.He is said to be responding well to treatment.

Boko Haram Members Arrested In Lagos,Enugu

The Department of State Services has arrested 20 suspected Boko Haram commanders in Lagos, Kano, Enugu, Plateau and Gombe states.The suspects, who were arrested between July 8 and August 25, 2015, include the masterminds of the suicide attacks in Potiskum, Kano, Zaria, and Jos. The DSS in a statement by an official, Tony Opuiyo, on Sunday in Abuja, said those arrested were notable commanders and frontline members of the notorious group from different parts of the country.

The statement noted that the group’s new pattern of movement and spread was caused by the pressure being put on it by security forces in its core areas of strength in the North-East.The service listed those arrested in Lagos to include Bakura Modu who was apprehended on July, 20 at Kara, Ogun State; Mustapha Jamberi, who was picked up on July 24 at Gowon Estate.

IGP Cuts Down Number Of Policeman Attached To Governors From 150 to 62

Bravo!!!The Inspector General of Police has reduced drastically, security details of Nigerian Governors to a maximum of 62 men, from about 150 policemen.

Arase, who spoke in Lagos at the weekend, said the police were worried that too many of their officers and men were doing jobs other than their core police duties, yet they were being promoted.

“When these people now have to be deployed from these special assignments back to their core duties, they may have lost touch,”

EFCC Sets Up Four-Man Panel On Diezani

The money mentioned here no be joke!!!The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced a full investigation into the activities of the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

It was learnt on Sunday that the commission constituted a four-member committee of crack detectives to probe all the NNPC accounts which were supervised by the former minister. The committee was led by a Superintendent of Police, who was seconded to the commission.Investigations revealed that the other three members of the committee were pioneer civilian operatives of the commission with high capacity for investigation.

Oscar Pistorius To Stay In Prison Until Mid-September

Oscar Pistorius’s parole review has been set for 18 September, meaning the athlete will spend at least another three weeks in jail, his family has said.

Pistorius, who was convicted of culpable homicide for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, was due to be moved to house arrest last Friday after serving 10 months behind bars.

But Michael Masutha, the justice minister, referred the matter back to the parole review board. The justice department said the athlete had been approved to be moved to house arrest too soon.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released a list of illegal degree awarding institutions operating in Nigeria.

The schools were published in the NUC’s weekly bulletin dated august 24. According to the bulletin, the NUC Executive secretary, Julius Okojie, warned that those who patronise the schools, do so at their own risk.

“Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognized for the purpose of NYSC, employment and further studies,” the NUC said. na wa ooo, so those already with the named institution certificate are not graduates...Choi..........money wasted

New government,new rules!!!President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the withdrawal of police orderlies from unauthorised persons  .The president gave the directive last week when he met with the Ministry of Police Affairs.
A statement yesterday by the Police Service Commission (PSC) said Very Important Persons (VIPs) not entitled to police orderlies should look elsewhere for security cover.
According to a statement by Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, a high level monitoring team had been deployed at the airports, highways and other public places to enforce the directive.
The statement quoted the Chairman of the commission, Mr Mike Okiro, as saying that the team had the powers to stop VIPs’ on the highways and airports to confirm their status.He said any erring VIP or policeman caught in such unauthorised beat would be prosecuted.

The immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, spent N139m on the drilling of two boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

The project was completed by Deux Projects Limited according to a report published by the state government
