What is this strange syndrome all over Nigeria now as most state government struggle to pay workers.....My Question is what happened now... Teachers in Adamawa state have
dragged the state government to court
over unpaid salaries. The teachers, 659 of them, were recruited by Adamawa
state Government in 2012 and have worked without pay for 29 months.
The teachers sued the Adamawa
State Government as 1st respondent, Ministry of Education 2nd respondent, Post
Primary School Management Board 3rd respondent and the Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice as 4th respondent.
The teachers, through their
Counsel, A.B Babakano, sought a declaration that their appointment was valid,
lawful and not illegal, having worked for a period of 29 months.
They also sought a declaration
that having worked for the defendants for the period of months were entitled to
the payment of their salaries/wage, allowances and entitlements totalling
N638,966,400.00.
A spokesperson for them also said
they resorted to legal action after all efforts, including peaceful
demonstration, to have government pay their salaries for the months they had
worked failed.
