Govonor Amachi says the cause of Nigeria's Problem is PDP

 

Could this be the solution to Nigeria's problem?Well the Rivers State Governor,  Chibuike Amaechi, has reiterated that the way to solve the problems facing the country is to vote out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 general elections.

Amaechi stated this at the second International Conference on Democracy and Good Governance with the theme: ‘Nigeria’s Democracy: Issues and Challenges’, held at the new Dr. Obi Wali Convention Centre in Port Harcourt.

He maintained that something was wrong with Nigeria, and that the solution  would be to ensure that the present administration was removed irrespective of the person’s geo-political zone.

His words: “Vote out those who have kept us inside this kind of situation. Vote them out whether they are from Niger Delta or from Southern Delta or from whatever Delta. We need to vote them out now and change Nigeria.

Boko Haram Kidnaps Prominent Emirs

As Nigerians sleep with one eye closed not knowing where the next bomb will blast Boko Haram sect, who have now been tagged the world’s most deadly sect this morning has kidnapped two prominent first class traditional rulers in Borno state - the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza and the Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta on their way to Gombe to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe who died in a London hospital where he was undergoing treatment for cancer. They were kidnapped this morning, Friday, 30th of May around 10:00am.

The two abducted emirs were elevated to First Class traditional ruler status only in January.The Borno state government is yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.

The abduction came 46 days after the Boko Haram sect whisked away over 250 schoolgirls from their dormitories in Chibok.

All we see everyday is bomb explosion,abduction,child trafficking, and so on, I ask myself why did we let ourselves(Nigeria) get to this point a question too heavy to answer.A lecturer at the Department of English and Literary Studies, Delta State University Abraka was abducted while on her way to work on Monday, May 19, 2014.

Enajite Ojaruega (pictured above) was ambushed and kidnapped at gun point near Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state. Since then nothing has been heard from her abductors and her whereabouts remain unknown.

ASUU, Delta State University, Abraka branch, in a statement by its Chairman, Professor Abel Diakparomre called on the state govt and security agents to ensure the release of Mrs Ojaruega, and lamented on the constant harassment and kidnap of its members. Let us pray for the safe release of Enajite Ojaruega.

“The way things are at present, the lectures are in danger and the guarantee of their safety is in serious doubt. Further delay in the release of Mrs. Ojaruega would compel the branch to activate this principle which will not be in the interest of the society.

We must state that it is extremely sacrilegious to temper with an academic anywhere in the world. When a Harvard lecturer was harassed by policemen a few years ago, it caused serious uproar in the United States and across the world.

The matter was formally settled in the White House by President Barrack Obama. But this is usually not the case in Nigeria and especially in Delta State, where professors have often been kidnapped like the way hawks pick chicks. Kidnappers now deal with academics the way a wanton child deals with grasshoppers.

Let no one be fooled, there is nothing like Boko Haram. It is a covert operation to balkanize Nigeria and steals its resources in the name of search of Boko Haram insurgents. Most Powerful President,Obama takes a surprise walk through DC

It came as a big shock to some of Washington DC's residents when they saw President Obama walking along with a suit jacket slung over his shoulder, it seemed as if Obama had made quite an impression.

President Obama was heading over to the nearby Department of the Interior from the White House and decided to break with tradition. On the way, he got a chance to meet with all sorts of folks, who weren't expecting to meet the President of the United States of America.

Obama chatted with tourists, shopkeepers and children during his walk to and from the Interior Department.

President Jonathan signs 2014 Budget

This is good news coming from the villa,President Goodluck Jonathan formally handed over the 2014 Budget to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Director, Budget Office, Dr. Bright Okogu, today 23rd May for implementation.

The handing over was said to have followed his signing the document into law on Wednesday.

UN Blacklist Boko Haram

It has been revealed that The United Nation Security Council committee yesterday May 22nd blacklisted Islamic sect Boko haram  after the Nigerian government on Wednesday May 21st made a request asking for the sect to be blacklisted. This coming a month after the armed group kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls in chibok, Northern part of Nigeria.

 Nigeria, which until recently had been reluctant to seek international help to combat Boko Haram, requested earlier this week that the group be sanctioned. As a result, it is now subject to an international asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo.

"What will the practical impact of that be? Hard to say but it's an essential step we had to take," said Australian UN Ambassador Gary Quinlan, the al-Qaeda sanctions committee chair, adding that the aim was to "dry up support" for the group.

"We will work to try and make sure that anybody supplying any material assistance to Boko Haram - whether funding or arms - will in fact be stopped, will be deterred by the fact they too will be eligible for listing on the sanctions list."

9 Army Generals under Probe for selling Arms to Boko Haram

 

Well if this is for real,that means Nigerians are yet to discover more mules in the Army working hand in hand with Boko Haram,Facts emerging from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, yesterday indicated that the soldiers who fired at the vehicle of the General Officer Commanding, the 7 Division in Maiduguri, Major-Gen. Ahmed Abdullahi, will be court-martialed this weekend.

 It was learnt that a preliminary investigation had been concluded and the military high command was set to try the soldiers.

The investigation has already established the identity of the soldiers involved, and the extent of their involvement in the alleged mutiny.

 If they are found guilty of the alleged offences, they may be dismissed and jailed, while those with little involvement may be demoted.

 It was also learnt that soldiers have been complaining about poor welfare, low morale, poor strategy, poor equipment and poor leadership, and that the Wednesday’s incident followed a forced overnight trip that some soldiers were made to take, which led to 12 deaths in the hands of Boko Haram who had laid an ambush for the troops.

The former GOC had instituted an inquiry himself, but he was overruled from Abuja and a new inquiry was set up instead.

Judge Randy Williams set a sentencing hearing for July 18 and said Lyzenga’s sentence will be served concurrently, meaning he’ll get two to 10 years.

Sitting in her chair with a head of grey hair, a buttoned-up cardigan and a beaming smile, you’d be forgiven for thinking Sheila Vogel-Coupe was just like any other grandmother. But that is exactly what she is not.

At 85 years of age Sheila has more notches on her bedpost than most twenty some things – because she is Britain’s oldest prostitute.

On closer examination, you can see that Sheila wears a miniskirt, suspenders and patent heels. And it’s no wonder she has such a large grin on her face, given that she rakes in £250 an hour for raunchy romps.

Sheila went on the game four years ago after struggling with loneliness following the death of her second husband, aeronautical engineer Noel Coupe, in 2004.

She used to entertain ten clients a week until she had to go under the knife for an operation in which she had to have 13in of intestine removed.

Since taking up the world’s oldest profession, she has been disowned by her family and seen her story splashed all over the Press –  but it isn’t enough to get her to give up her lucrative career.

‘I don’t think I will ever stop,’ Sheila says ahead of appearing on new Channel 4 documentary My Granny The Escort.

Speaking about her male clients, she said: ‘They see something about me. It is a nice feeling.
‘Often men call me up and say, “Will you please go on talking because you are turning me on.” I know I am very, very sexy.’

Attempting to explain why she’s a granny on the game, she added: ‘The most important reason is because I love sex. Even thinking about it makes me feel better.
‘It doesn’t just begin with sex, there is companionship too. I have been on my own for nine years and I do get lonely. I love the companionship of gentlemen. I really have no inhibitions.’

Survivors Of Kano Blast Recall The Terrible Things They Saw

After the Sunday bombing of the predominantly Christian Sabon Gari area of Kano, which claimed 5 lives (including the suicide bomber), an eyewitness Ibeabuchi and other survivors, narrated the terrible things they saw.

Speaking with Leadership, Ibeabuchi said he heard a loud blast and fell down unconscious, and when he came to himself, he saw people severely injured, with parts of their body ripped off.

Ibeabuchi was quoted saying:

“I saw a young boy burning helplessly. There was a girl I saw on the ground whom I knew was selling fish along that street; the bomb ripped her stomach open. I also saw a dead man on the floor. He used to sell ‘Suya’ and his leg was cut off.”

The man shocked with the bloody sights of the tragedy scene begged for the federal government to find the way of handling insurgency in the country.

Leadership correspondent arrived at the scene around 11pm and saw a young man rolling in agony on the ground, because he saw his brothers killed and injured by the attack. The devastated man exclaimed:

“What did we do to them that they are bombing us like this?”

Raymond Chibueze, another eyewitness, said his sister Gloria Ibe was severely injured and taken by him to the military hospital. Despite the serious harm made to her body, Gloria is luckily responding to treatment.

According to what Raymond was told by the hospital staff, out of those taken to the military hospital after the incident 3 people died.

Meanwhile the officially confirmed number of casualties corresponds 5 (including the suicide bomber).

Pastor Adeboye Suspends Hundreds Of Church Workers

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adejare Adeboye, has suspended workers of the church who did not attend the National Workers Meeting held recently.

The annual national workers’ meeting is a forum for all the workers of the church to meet with the leadership and it usually holds on Saturday before the Holy Ghost Service of every year.

The actual number of the workers affected in eight states within the South-West Region of the church could not be ascertained as at the time of this report, but it is believed those involved cannot be less than 1,000 of the workers.

The South-West Region of the church comprises Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo and Delta states.

Some of the senior pastors of the church our correspondent spoke to on the matter were unanimous in their response to the questions put across to them.

Many killed in Jos market explosions

Tragedy again hit the violence-prone Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Tuesday as an afternoon explosions in the Terminus Market is reported to have killed scores of traders and customers in the busy commercial area.

Our correspondent reports that while the first bomb blast went off in the market, located at Jos Terminus, at the back of the popular Ahmadu Bello Way, by 2.30pm, the second explosion occurred about 30 minutes later.

The second blast was said to have killed more people than the first one as many residents and traders, who had fled the scene over the first explosion, tried to join rescue agencies to save the injured and retrieve the bodies of the dead.

The first explosion was said to have gone off in a Siena space bus marked Plateau XB 146 BLD at about 2.30pm.
