There's a photo of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon in bed together that was making headlines Wednesday morning. Carey herself tweeted it hours ago, and we're betting that neither the singing diva nor her DJ/TV host husband wishes it had ever been taken. That's because the snapshot finds the couple in a hospital bed in Aspen, Colorado - an unexpected twist to their ongoing family vacation, and, according to Bang! Showbiz, Cannon, 31, was rushed to emergency Wednesday after suffering abdominal pains.
"Please pray for Nick as he's fighting to recover from mild kidney failure," Carey tweeted early on Wednesday, sharing a snapshot of a pained-looking Cannon lying in a hospital bed, with a plaid PJ-clad Carey curled up beside him.
The causes of Cannon's trip to hospital remain unclear, though symptoms seem to include suffering through poorly lit photo ops. Carey, 41, briefly elaborated on the situation in a blog entry posted to her official website: "This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are," she wrote, referring to the birth of the couple's eight-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
"We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances, but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.''
Carey and Cannon, who married in the Bahamas in 2008, had been photographed vacationing in Aspen earlier in the week with their young twins.
