Reaction To Grand Jury Finding In Chokehold Death

Just like Darren Wilson, the officer responsible for Eric Garner’s death will not be charged for his murder, what is really happening with this grand jury in a country as civilized as America! hmmmm some food for thought. Eric Garner was placed in an illegal chokehold by a white cop as seen in the footage that surfaced after the incident. The man pleaded with cops 8 times to leave him alone as he could not breath before going silent......

Despite the father of six’s death being captured on a cell phone camera, a Staten Island grand jury of 23 decided not to indict Officer Pantaleo because they didn’t think placing Eric in an illegal chokehold was done with criminal intent. That conclusion was reached after Pantaleo testified to the grand jury for two hours last month about his state of mind during the incident. It is believed the charges Pantaleo was facing included second degree manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

Esaw Garner, Eric’s widow, reacted to the shocking news with anger and disbelief. She told the New York Daily News. Oh my God, are you serious? I’m very disappointed. You can see in the video that he (the cop) was dead wrong!
Though Eric suffered asthma, the medical examiner did find that the illegal chokehold contributed to his death.

Garner's stepfather, Benjamin Carr, held yellow flowers at the site where Garner died and looked weary with grief. "We don't want no violence," he said. "It's not going to help nothing."
Carr said he was disappointed but not surprised by the grand jury's decision and hoped federal authorities could do more.

"It's just a license to kill a black man," he said, calling the justice system "not worth a damn."
At a news conference with the Rev. Al Sharpton, Garner's widow, Esaw, said that the fight wasn't over and that she wouldn't accept Pantaleo's apology.

"Who's going to play Santa Claus for my grandkids this year?" Esaw Garner asked.
Garner's mother, Gwen, said she was "truly disappointed" in the grand jury's ruling. Speaking to protesters, she said, "We want you to rally but rally in peace."
